‘We all have our shortcomings’ – Sunday Oliseh urges Osimhen to evolve and embrace Premier League challenge

Sunday Oliseh says Victor Osimhen must embrace change and to stay in the spotlight, urging growth despite “shortcomings.”

Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has urged Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to take bold steps toward evolving his game if he truly wants to reach the pinnacle of world football

Oliseh, who coached the Nigerian national team between July 2015 and February 2016, spoke during an interview with Lagos Talks, where he expressed admiration for the Napoli star, while also challenging him to embrace change and growth.

“I think he [Osimhen] is a huge asset to Nigerian football. But like every top asset, we all have our shortcomings. We have to be able to find solutions and work around it,” Oliseh said.

He added that the 26-year-old forward, who has attracted links to several English clubs in the past, must now take the step that fans have long waited for.

“This is a player that if he wants to continue to be in the limelight, he has to go to the Premier League. Nigerians want to see him there. He has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea for a long time.”

Oliseh made it clear that reaching the top level would require a shift in mindset and performance.

“But for him to play that way, for him to become that big, there are many things he has to change,” he concluded.

Despite longstanding interest from the Premier League, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain. While clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool have been linked, none appear close to completing a move this summer.

Arsenal has reportedly prioritized RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, Chelsea remains committed to their under-23 signing policy, Liverpool is focused on Hugo Ekitike, and Manchester United’s interest has cooled.

Outside England, Galatasaray and Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal are said to be eager to secure Osimhen’s services, making a lucrative offer.
