Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has stressed that every match counts as Nigeria gear up for their second Group C fixture against Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After opening their campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Tanzania, Nigeria now face a strong Tunisian side, who defeated Uganda 3-1 in their opening game.

Dele-Bashiru highlighted the team’s mindset heading into the tournament:

“Every game matters. It’s important that we take each game the same way with the same focus, the same respect for the opposition and train hard, following what the coach wants from us.”

The former Manchester City Academy player, currently with S.S. Lazio also underlined his versatility on the pitch.

“I can play anywhere. Wherever the coach asks me to play, that’s where I’ll play, and I’ll try to do as well as I can to help the team get the victory,” he said.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to make only minor adjustments to the side that beat Tanzania. Dele-Bashiru’s form provides Nigeria with additional options in midfield and attack as they face a tactically disciplined Tunisian team.
