Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced the departure of Steve Tikolo as Head Coach of the Senior Men’s National Team and High-Performance Manager, with immediate effect.
The federation confirmed on Monday that the decision was reached by mutual consent, bringing to an end almost 40 months of service by the former Kenya international.
The announcement was disclosed by the NCF’s Public Relations Officer, Musa Bodie, who said both parties agreed to the disengagement after nearly three years in charge.
During his tenure, Tikolo oversaw steady progress within the national team structure, with a focus on talent development, discipline, teamwork and professionalism.
Under his leadership, Nigeria climbed five places in the ICC T20 rankings, moving from 42nd to 37th, while also establishing themselves as a dominant force in West African cricket. The team also recorded improved performances against higher-ranked opponents from East Africa.
NCF president Dr Uyi Akpata praised Tikolo’s impact, describing his contribution as both results-driven and culturally significant.
“The Board and Management of NCF extend their sincere appreciation to Steve for his unwavering commitment and dedication over the past three years. His on-field results have been outstanding, but it is the culture of discipline, hard work, passion, and dedication that will have a lasting impact.”
