Victor Osimhen is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an arm injury sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League defeat by Liverpool.
The Nigeria international was forced off at half-time in the second leg of the last-16 tie, which Liverpool won 4-0 on the night to complete a 4-1 aggregate victory.
In a statement released on Monday, Galatasaray confirmed the 27-year-old had undergone a successful procedure. The operation was carried out by club doctor Yener İnce at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul.
The club said it wished the striker a speedy recovery, although no exact return date has been given. Reports suggest Osimhen could be out for around six weeks, with a possible return in May.
His absence is a significant setback for Galatasaray as they pursue silverware on multiple fronts. The Istanbul side currently lead the Turkish Super Lig, holding a four-point advantage over Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor.
