Rivers United returned to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a 4-2 victory over Kun Khalifat on Sunday.
The Port Harcourt side ended a four-game losing streak in a dramatic Matchday 32 encounter, recovering from behind to secure all three points at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
Rivers United took the lead through Aniekeme Okon in the 16th minute, but Kun Khalifat responded with goals from Omolabi Abdulrafiu and Sunday Adehi to go 2-1 up before the break.
The hosts hit back quickly, with Iyowuna Douglas levelling just minutes later before Handsome Surveyor put them ahead to complete a first-half turnaround.
Douglas added his second in the 82nd minute to seal the win and revive Rivers United’s title push.
Elsewhere, Shooting Stars SC boosted their own ambitions with a 3-1 victory over Enugu Rangers, who had started the weekend top of the table.
The result saw Rangers drop to second on 54 points, while Rivers United moved above them with 55.

Ikorodu City also strengthened their position in the title race, edging Warri Wolves 4-3 in a high-scoring encounter to remain third on 52 points.

Nasarawa United sit fourth on 50 points, level with Shooting Stars, while Abia Warriors dropped to sixth after a late 2-1 defeat to Enyimba.
