Bendel Insurance have been fined ₦7m and ordered to play three matches behind closed doors following crowd disturbances and security breaches during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.
The sanctions were handed down after a Matchday 32 clash against Plateau United FC at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, where officials said matchday control broke down.
According to the Nigeria Premier Football League, the club failed to provide adequate security, allowing unauthorised individuals access to restricted areas.
Supporters were also found guilty of misconduct, with incidents that reportedly brought the game into disrepute.
The situation escalated after the match, with officials allegedly harassed and held for around 40 minutes.
