Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface says he is “really happy” after returning to training with Werder Bremen following a lengthy injury absence.
The 25-year-old has rejoined the Bundesliga side’s squad after spending three months sidelined with a recurring knee problem.
Boniface, who joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, had initially been expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery in January.
However, his recovery has progressed faster than anticipated, allowing him to resume training with the first team this week.
“Hello guys, it’s Boniface. I’m really happy to be back. I was out for three months and now I’m back. I’m happy and looking forward to what we can achieve before the end of the season.”
Boniface has made 11 appearances in the Bundesliga this season but has yet to score, with his last outing coming in December.
His injury ruled him out of 14 consecutive league matches and also saw him miss Nigeria’s campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles finished third.
