President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Rangers International following the club’s Nigeria Premier Football League title triumph after the Flying Antelopes finished top of the standings with 68 points from 38 matches.
The Enugu giants secured their ninth league crown ahead of Rivers United to cap off a consistent campaign that saw them emerge as the country’s best-performing side.
Rangers carried momentum into the closing weeks of the season with a string of decisive victories that strengthened their grip at the summit. Their defensive discipline and attacking efficiency ultimately proved crucial as they edged Rivers United in the title race.

Following the triumph, Tinubu congratulated the players, coaching crew, management and supporters for delivering another historic moment in the club’s rich history.
The President also reserved special praise for Peter Mbah, linking the club’s success to the Enugu State government’s investment in youth development and sports.
“I must also congratulate Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on the victory of Rangers International. This victory is an obvious fruit of his administration’s investments in youth and sports in the state. I commend him,” Tinubu said.
The President further reflected on Rangers’ historic contribution to Nigerian football, recalling the club’s dominance during the 1970s and 1980s.
“As one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Rangers have produced some of the nation’s finest football players who went on to make the country proud on the global stage. I am proud of their achievement,” he added.
Tinubu also acknowledged Rivers United for pushing the title race deep into the season and praised their sportsmanship throughout the campaign.

Both Rangers and Rivers United will now represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League as attention gradually shifts towards continental competition.
