‘He can make the difference’ – Patrice Evra backs Manchester United move for Osimhen

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has named Victor Osimhen as the one signing the Red Devils need, insisting the Nigerian striker can make the difference at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has urged his former club to make a move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of next season.

Osimhen, who is currently on the books of Galatasaray, continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs after another impressive campaign in Turkey.

The Nigeria international has repeatedly been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and CHELSEA among clubs previously credited with interest. Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona have also reportedly entered discussions around the prolific forward.

Asked to name one player Manchester United should prioritize in the next transfer window, Evra did not hesitate to mention Osimhen.

Speaking to GOAL, the former France international said: “Osimhen. I have great respect for Galatasaray, the love they have for him, and the kind of player he is.”

“Man United need a proper striker, and I have so much respect for the strikers at Man United, and sometimes Bryan Mbeumo. But back in the day, we had four amazing strikers, and if you want to compete in every competition, you need more strikers.

“Of course, you need some defenders, like an extra left-back and right-back because injuries can happen. Of course, Casemiro is leaving, so you need to replace those players.

“But if I have to name one player, I’ll say Osimhen because I know he can make the difference.”

Evra is not the first former Manchester United player to publicly advocate for the signing of the Nigerian striker.

Former Red Devils forward Louis Saha had earlier described Osimhen as the ideal player to lead the line at Old Trafford, citing his experience and mentality.

“I really like Victor Osimhen. He’s definitely got the character and the quality,” Saha previously said.

“He’s also got good European pedigree. He was successful in France, became a champion in Italy with Napoli and has gone to Turkey with Galatasaray and been brilliant, despite it probably not being the move he originally wanted.

“He’s scored goals at every level. He’s got Champions League experience and the type of personality and charisma this United squad could really benefit from.

“I think he would be a transformational signing for Manchester United. If you think about the pressure he handled at Napoli, leading the club to its first title in 33 years, then he’s the perfect man to lead the line for Manchester United.”

Osimhen remains one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, with his future expected to dominate transfer discussions in the coming weeks.
