Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has completed her move to Portuguese champions Benfica after leaving Galatasaray, signing a three-year contract with the club.

Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has completed her move to Portuguese champions Benfica, beginning a new chapter in her European career after leaving Galatasaray.

The 24-year-old centre-back has signed a three-year contract with Benfica, who have established themselves as one of the leading clubs in Portuguese women’s football.

Demehin’s move comes just a day after she confirmed her departure from Galatasaray, where she spent two seasons after joining the Turkish club from French side Stade de Reims in 2024.

The Nigeria international expressed her excitement about joining Benfica and believes the move provides another opportunity to develop at the highest level.

“Benfica is the best club in Portugal and one of the best clubs in the world. Therefore, I know that being here, I can improve my performance,” Demehin told BTV.

The defender also revealed that she consulted her Super Falcons teammate Christy Ucheibe before completing the move. Ucheibe previously played for Benfica and was able to offer Demehin an insight into life at the Portuguese club.

“Before coming here, I spoke with her during the national team training camp. She told me many nice things about the club,” Demehin added.

Demehin also outlined the qualities she believes define her game, describing herself as hardworking, disciplined and determined.

Demehin european journey began in 2022, when her performances for Rivers Angels earned her a move to Stade de Reims. after two seasons in France, she moved to Galatasaray in 2024 and became a regular presence in the Turkish side’s defense.
