Ademola Lookman ends five-month wait with thunderbolt against AC Milan

Inter Milan have submitted a €40m offer for Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman after agreeing personal terms, but Atalanta are holding out for more.

Ademola Lookman scored his first goal in five months as Atalanta held AC Milan to a 1-1 draw in a lively Serie A contest at the Gewiss Stadium.

The Super Eagles forward, restored to Atalanta’s starting line-up after a difficult summer, cancelled out Samuel Ricci’s early opener with a brilliant finish in the 35th minute.

He last found the net in May 2025 against Roma, at the tail end of the 2024/25 season his 15th Serie A goal in a campaign where he registered 20 goals across 40 appearances in all competitions.

Ricci had fired Milan ahead inside four minutes, but Atalanta fought back through Lookman, who smashed Mario Pašalić’s clever pass into the roof of the net to level the score.

The goal was Lookman’s first of the 2025–26 campaign after 7 matches and his first since returning to Ivan Juric’s squad after a spell out amid transfer uncertainty.

The reigning CAF Men’s Player of the Year has been instrumental for Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig, scoring 53 goals in 123 appearances and helping the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League twice, as well as win their first-ever Europa League title.
