Arokodare’s troubles deepens as Wolves are relegated

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ relegation from the Premier League has cast fresh uncertainty over the future of Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare, whose difficult debut season has now taken another turn.

The club’s drop confirmed after West Ham United’s draw with Crystal Palace ends an eight-year stay in the top flight and signals the start of a major rebuild.

For Arokodare, It is understood that following Wolves’ 4-0 defeat away to West Ham last week, the Nigerian striker was involved in a dressing room altercation with teammate Mateus Mane. What began as a verbal exchange reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, with Arokodare identified as the sole aggressor.

The club has since taken disciplinary action, issuing a fine to the player. He was subsequently left as an unused substitute in Wolves’ 3-0 defeat to Leeds United a decision that has only intensified speculation around his standing within the squad.

Arokodare’s numbers shows a challenging campaign. Signed from KRC Genk for £23.4m, he made 28 league appearances so far, starting 12 and coming off the bench 16 times, returning three goals and one assist.

Those figures mirror Wolves’ wider struggles in attack. The team has managed just 24 goals in 33 matches, conceding 61 and suffering 22 defeats, with only three wins, a run that ultimately sealed their fate.

Now, with a move to the EFL Championship confirmed, fresh reports suggest Arokodare could leave the club at the end of the season, with his future now in considerable doubt following both the relegation and the internal incident.
