Doma United have been fined ₦5.25 million after the Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) charged the club over security failures and supporters’ misconduct during their 1–1 draw against Kun Khalifat on October 17.
The sanctions were announced in an official update posted by the Euromatch-NPFL on X, and seen by TheAthleticNG.
The league charged the Gombe club with failing to provide adequate and effective security during the Matchday 9 fixture of the 2026/27 season, allowing unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas.
Doma United were also charged over the hostile conduct of their supporters towards match officials and the visiting team’s officials, as well as what the league described as gross misconduct towards an away-team official after the match.
The NPFL imposed a ₦3 million fine on Doma United for repeated failures to provide adequate and effective security.
The club will pay an additional ₦1 million over their supporters’ hostile conduct towards match officials and another ₦1 million for the gross misconduct involving an away-team official.
A further ₦250,000 fine was imposed as compensation for the medical treatment of Kun Khalifat head coach Obinna Uzoho, who sustained an injury during the incident.
The total financial penalty stands at ₦5.25 million, alongside the three-match order to play at home behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, The NPFL has also recommended the match commissioner for demotion to the lower league over alleged dereliction of duty, insufficient supervision and inadequate reporting of the October 17 fixture between Doma United and Kun Khalifat in Gombe.
The recommendation forms part of the league’s disciplinary response to the incident serving as a warning that officials are expected to uphold the league’s standards of professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The disciplinary action follows Kun Khalifat’s public appeal for protection after the match in Gombe. As reported by TheAthleticNG on October 18, the club called on the league to protect its players and officials following what it alleged was an assault after the draw.
A video circulated online appeared to show Uzoho with facial injuries and blood around his nose and mouth. The video itself did not establish the full circumstances of the incident or identify those responsible.
In its latest update, the NPFL after internal investigation cited security failures and supporters’ conduct as grounds for its action against Doma United.

The sanctions also include a warning that the club must strengthen its security arrangements and educate supporters on acceptable conduct, or risk severe penalties for future breaches of the league’s framework and rules.
The three-match stadium restriction follows what the league described as repeated security breaches. Doma United have 48 hours from the day of notice to appeal the sanctions.
