Nigeria’s Flamingos have made a commanding start to life under new head coach Akeem Ishola Busari, defeating Generation Next 6-0 in a preparatory friendly as attention turns to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The match, played at the Goal Project in Abuja, offered an early glimpse into Busari’s evolving squad and it did not take long for his side to impose themselves.
Shavih Istifanus opened the scoring inside the first minute, setting the tone for a dominant first half display. Tobiloba Sarafa added a quickfire brace in the 10th and 23rd minutes, stretching the advantage as the Flamingos overwhelmed their opponents with pace and intent.
Harmony Chidi made it four in the 28th minute, before Aminat Adebisi struck just before half time to cap a five goal first half performance that effectively settled the contest.

Precious Paul added a sixth shortly after the restart, but worsening weather conditions forced the match to be abandoned in the 54th minute.
The fixture forms part of an intensive training camp, with Busari working with a 36 player squad as he evaluates options ahead of competitive action. The group made up of five goalkeepers, ten defenders, thirteen midfielders and eight forwards is currently based at Serob Legacy Hotel.
Busari’s appointment followed the departure of Bankole Olowookere, and the friendly offered a first indication of his approach as Nigeria begin preparations for a crucial qualifying tie.
The Flamingos will face Guinea in a two-legged second-round encounter, with the first leg scheduled away between May 22 and 24, before the return fixture takes place in Abuja on May 30.

Another friendly against Nazareth Queens is scheduled as preparations continue, giving the technical crew further opportunity to assess player readiness and refine tactical organisation.
The Flamingos will target qualification for the tournament in Morocco later this year.
