Former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has officially been called up by the Democratic Republic of Congo for the first time at senior level, following his decision to switch international allegiance from England.
The 26-year-old, now at West Ham United, headlines the 26-man squad named by head coach Sébastien Desabre for two international friendlies in June — against Mali on the 5th and Madagascar on the 8th.
These matches will serve as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
Wan-Bissaka, who featured for DR Congo’s U20 side in 2015 before representing England at various youth levels, has now committed fully to the Leopards, marking a new chapter in his international career.

The core of the team remains intact, with experienced names such as Chancel Mbemba, Theo Bongonda, Samuel Moutoussamy, and Cédric Bakambu all retained.
There is also a return for Axel Tuanzebe, making his comeback after two successive absences, and for Nathanaël Mbuku, who missed the previous camp.

However, there are some notable omissions, including Silas Katompa, Grady Diangana, and Hénock Inonga, none of whom have been selected this time around.
Joining Wan-Bissaka among the new faces are centre-back Steve Kapuadi of Legia Warsaw, and striker Afimico Pululu, currently the top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League with eight goals.
