Nigeria’s boxing scene is bracing for a high-octane spectacle as the Nigeria Boxing Federation throws its support behind “Chaos in the Ring 4,” a fight night that is already generating global attention ahead of its May 1 staging in Lagos.
Set for the Balmoral Hall at the Federal Palace Hotel, the event organized by Balmoral Group Promotions in partnership with Amir Khan Promotions promises a blend of elite boxing and entertainment-driven clashes.
A celebrity exhibition bout between street-pop artist Portable and comedian Carter Efe has quickly become one of the biggest talking points. Portable, unbeaten in previous celebrity bouts, vowed to extend his run.
“I will use you collect my third belt… I beat bigger opponents before you,” he fired.
Efe, however, dismissed the threat, insisting the fight would end quickly.
“One punch and you go down,” he responded, setting the tone for a fiery showdown.

But beyond the entertainment, the main card carries serious competitive weight.
The headline bout between Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah billed as a symbolic WBO Peace Fight adds deeper meaning, representing unity between Niger Delta communities. Yet, any sense of diplomacy disappeared at the face-off.
Appah declared the fight a battle for pride and dominance, promising a knockout, while Arenyeka responded with equal confidence, predicting an earlier finish.
Elsewhere, Elvis Ahorgah and Joe Lawz added flair to proceedings, with Ahorgah delivering his warnings in rhythmic fashion, while Lawz embraced the Lagos crowd by painting his face in Nigerian colours.
British southpaw Michael McKinson of Nigerian descent also features, taking on Mohammed Sahnoun as part of an international fight card designed to showcase talent across continents.
The event will include nine bouts in total, featuring a mix of rising prospects and experienced fighters, including Raheem Animashaun, Samuel Antwi and Paul Kamanga.
Speaking on the vision behind the event, Balmoral Group Promotions CEO Ezekiel Adamu described the platform as an opportunity to elevate African boxing on the global stage.
He noted that while entertainment remains part of the appeal, the broader goal is to give fighters visibility and create life-changing opportunities.
The card, sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control and set for global broadcast on DAZN, reflects a growing ambition to position Nigeria as a hub for major boxing events.
