Manchester City seriously interested in signing Super Eagles star this summer

Manchester City are reportedly showing serious interest in signing Super Eagles defender Ola Aina from Nottingham Forest as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of next season.

Manchester City are understood to be assessing long-term replacements for Kyle Walker who is out on loan and Aina has emerged as a leading candidate.

The 28-year-old has been a standout performer for Forest this term, showcasing consistency, versatility, and composure in a side that has exceeded expectations.

Aina has been ever-present under Nuno Espírito Santo, starting all 32 of Forest’s Premier League matches so far. His contributions — two goals, one assist, and several assured defensive displays — have been central to the club’s unexpected push for a top-four finish.

His ability to operate effectively on both flanks is said to have caught the attention of Pep Guardiola, who values players with tactical flexibility.

Though Aina is not actively pushing for a move, it is believed he would seriously consider interest from a club of Manchester City’s stature. For Guardiola’s side, he represents a low-cost, experienced option who understands the demands of the Premier League.

Forest, however, are not prepared to let Aina go without a fight. Having signed him on a free transfer from Torino last summer, the club is reportedly in talks to extend his contract, which is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

He has become a fan favourite at the City Ground, and losing him could unsettle both squad and supporters.
