Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo could find themselves at the same football event once again, with both superstars reportedly set to receive invitations for Carlos Tevez’s planned testimonial match at La Bombonera in December.
According to TyC Sports, Tevez has begun preparations for an emotional farewell at his former club Boca Juniors, with president Juan Roman Riquelme reportedly agreeing to make the iconic stadium available for the event.
The proposed testimonial is expected to take place in mid-December, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed. December 12-13 and December 19-20 are reportedly being considered.
Tevez is planning an ambitious gathering involving around 60 former teammates, friends and football figures from the various stages of his career.

Among the biggest names expected to be invited are Messi, his fellow Argentina great, and Ronaldo, who was Tevez’s teammate during their time together at Manchester United.
The proposed format would see a side made up of Tevez’s friends and former teammates face another team featuring international stars and players he encountered throughout his career.
A return to La Bombonera would carry particular significance for Tevez, who formally retired from professional football in 2022 following his final spell with Boca.
The Argentine forward enjoyed two spells with the Buenos Aires giants and made 279 appearances for the club, scoring 94 goals and winning 11 trophies.
His career also took him to Corinthians, West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, while he earned 76 international caps for Argentina.
Tevez shared the pitch with some of football’s biggest names throughout that journey, including Messi with Argentina and Ronaldo at Manchester United, making their potential presence at his testimonial particularly fitting.

The former striker returned to La Bombonera in November 2025 as coach of Talleres, but his side were beaten 2-0 by Boca Juniors in the last 16 of the Torneo Clausura.
A testimonial at his beloved Boca home would now give Tevez the chance to bring his playing career full circle, with a host of former teammates and football stars potentially joining him for the occasion.
The prospect of Messi and Ronaldo being part of the same celebration would add another major attraction to what is already shaping up to be a memorable farewell for one of Argentina’s most celebrated forwards.
