Wikki Tourists FC have been sanctioned by the Nigeria National League (NNL) following violent conduct by their supporters and officials during their 3-2 defeat to Warri Wolves in the 2024/25 Super 8 final.
The chaotic scenes at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on 12 July marred what should have been a celebration of Nigeria’s second-tier championship decider.
Instead, the final ended in controversy as fans invaded the pitch, attacked match officials, and caused damage to stadium property.
The NNL, in a disciplinary letter addressed to the Bauchi State Football Association and Wikki Tourists, imposed a ₦3.75 million fine on the club for multiple breaches of league regulations.
Breakdown of penalties
The governing body cited violations of Articles 16.1.1 and 27.1 of its code of conduct, imposing the following sanctions:
₦1,000,000 for general disturbances caused by club officials and supporters.
₦2,000,000 for harassment, intimidation, throwing objects, and pitch invasion.
₦750,000 for damage to stadium infrastructure, including advertising boards and facilities.

The club has been given 24 hours to accept the sanctions or file a formal appeal.
Reports from the match indicate that objects were thrown at Assistant Referee II, while NNL officials and match staff were also targeted by irate fans after the final whistle.

Despite a spirited comeback from Wikki Tourists with Mamuda Aliyu and Wonderson Yakubu scoring in the 35th and 59th minutes. Warri Wolves held on to their early advantage to claim a 3-2 victory and lift the NNL title.

The win marked a triumphant return to top-tier football for Warri Wolves, but the post-match violence overshadowed the achievement of Wikki Tourists who returned to the topflight.
The NNL has reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding the integrity of Nigerian football.
