Nigeria shot putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi faces a battle to qualify for the Diamond League Final in Zurich after finishing seventh at the Silesia meeting in Poland.
The African record holder, who arrived ranked sixth the last qualifying position managed a best throw of 21.56m. The result gave him just two points and dropped him to seventh in the overall standings.
His place was taken by Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri, who threw 22.10m to finish second behind American Payton Otterdahl.

Fabbri’s runner-up spot earned him seven points, lifting him to sixth overall and pushing Enekwechi out of the qualification zone.

With only one meet remaining in Lausanne in four days, Enekwechi must deliver a standout performance to reclaim his spot at the season finale.
The Zurich Final is regarded as the pinnacle of the Diamond League, and missing out would be a major setback for the Nigerian.
