A magistrate court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus sports utility vehicle involved in a car crash involving boxer Anthony Joshua, to 25 February.
Kayode appeared before the court on Tuesday for the continuation of his trial.
At the resumed hearing, prosecuting counsel Richard Nigiwe informed the court that three of the prosecution’s four witnesses were present. Those in attendance were officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).

Despite the presence of the witnesses, Mr Nigiwe requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution duplicate the case file and forward it to the Ogun State Attorney General through the Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The defence counsel, Abiodun Olalekan, objected to the application, arguing that the trial should proceed since the prosecution’s witnesses were already in court.

However, the presiding magistrate, Somefun, ruled that the matter be adjourned, granting the prosecution’s request to seek legal advice.

The magistrate ordered that the case file be duplicated and transmitted to the Attorney General’s office and fixed 25 February for the continuation of proceedings.

The trial stems from a car crash involving a vehicle linked to Anthony Joshua, in which two of the boxer’s close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, lost their lives.
