Nigerian high jumper Temitope Adeshina equalled the national record after clearing 1.97 metres to win the women’s high jump at the Razorback Invitational on Friday.
The Texas Tech University athlete secured victory ahead of Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, who finished second with a best clearance of 1.94m in a competitive field.
Adeshina’s winning jump matched both her personal best and the Nigerian national record, marking the third time she has cleared the height in competition.
She first achieved the mark at the NCAA Championships in June 2024 before equalling it again at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships later that season, a performance that secured her qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
The Razorback Invitational success came two weeks after Adeshina opened her 2026 campaign with victory at the Corky Classics, where she cleared 1.93m to record a season’s best and finish comfortably ahead of the field.

Her breakthrough 1.97m clearance in 2024 made Adeshina the first Nigerian woman to reach the height, surpassing the long-standing national record held by Doreen Amata and securing qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
