Chippa United have confirmed the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali after granting his request to leave the club.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Premier Soccer League side said the 29-year-old had “formally submitted a request to depart” and that, “after careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release.”
Nwabali made 12 appearances across all competitions this season and leaves having 6 months remaining on his contract. He is currently valued at around €600,000 according to Transfermaket.
The Nigeria international joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League and went on to establish himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in the PSL.

His profile rose sharply following his performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, which attracted transfer interest last summer.
Nwabali was linked with a move away from Chippa United, including reported interest from Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, but ultimately chose to extend his stay with the club.

Thanking the goalkeeper, Chippa United praised his conduct, saying: “We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated.”

The club added that it wished him “every success in the next chapter of his career and in all his future endeavours.”
On the international stage, Nwabali made his Super Eagles debut in 2021 and has since earned 34 caps.

He was again a key figure at AFCON 2025 in Morocco, playing five matches. His most notable moment came in the third-place playoff against Egypt, where he saved penalties from Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, further cementing his position as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
