Super Eagles defender Felix Agu is set to return to training with Werder Bremen this week after recovering from his latest injury setback.
The 26-year-old full-back has endured a difficult campaign plagued by injuries, spending long spells away from the pitch during the current season.
An ankle problem sustained in October kept Agu sidelined until early February, ruling him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which had been expected to be his first major tournament with Nigeria.

The injury also forced him to miss 13 matches for Bremen during that period.
After returning to fitness earlier this year, Agu’s comeback was short-lived. He suffered an adductor injury during the warm-up ahead of Bremen’s match against FC St. Pauli on 22 February.
Following Bremen’s 4-1 victory over Union Berlin last weekend, head coach Daniel Thioune provided an encouraging update on the defender’s recovery.
“If everything goes optimally over the next couple of days, Felix and Samuel will return to partially integrated training on Thursday,” Thioune said.

The plan means Agu will initially take part in light training sessions as he rebuilds his match fitness after nearly two weeks out.

However, he is unlikely to feature in Bremen’s Bundesliga match against 1. Mainz 05 this weekend. Instead, the club hopes he could return to the selection pool for their upcoming trip to face VfL Wolfsburg.
Agu’s expected return could also be positive news for Nigeria’s national team.

The full-back received his first Super Eagles call-up under Chelle, but repeated injuries have prevented the coach from consistently selecting him.
