The fifth edition of the NCF Women’s Invitational Tournament, also known as the Patricia Kambarami Cup, began with impressive performances from hosts Nigeria and a record-breaking display by Rwanda.
Named in honour of the late Patricia Kambarami, the tournament celebrates her contribution to the growth of women’s cricket across Africa. The Nigeria women’s cricket team opened their campaign with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe Women’s U-19 cricket team.
After Zimbabwe elected to bat, Nigeria’s bowlers quickly took control. Anointed Akhigbe struck early, while Peace Usen delivered a standout performance, claiming three wickets for just 16 runs.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 80 in 16.5 overs. In response, Nigeria chased down the target with ease, reaching 81/2 in 11.2 overs. Captain Lucky Piety led from the front, with additional contributions from Salome Sunday and Amusa Kehinde guiding the team to victory.

Usen was named Player of the Match for her decisive spell. Earlier, Rwanda women’s cricket team delivered a stunning performance to defeat Ghana women’s cricket team by 122 runs.
Rwanda posted a tournament-record 210 runs, powered by a remarkable innings from Fanny Utagushimaninde.

The young batter scored 111 off 65 balls on her international debut, becoming the youngest player to record a century in women’s T20 internationals. She was supported by Uwase Merveille, who added 32 runs.
Ghana struggled in reply, finishing on 88/8 in 20 overs, as Rwanda sealed a comprehensive win. Utagushimaninde was named Player of the Match for her record-breaking innings.
