The NPFL also charged the club over the behavior of its supporters, describing it as unsporting and capable of bringing the game into disrepute. In addition, fans were reported to have engaged in misconduct towards match officials, an incident that led to a 10-minute delay during the game.
As a result, the club has been handed a series of financial and disciplinary measures:
- ₦2 million fine for inadequate security
- ₦1 million fine for unsporting behaviour
- ₦3 million fine for misconduct towards match officials
In total, Warri Wolves will pay ₦6 million in fines.
Beyond the financial penalties, the league has also ordered the club to play their remaining home fixtures behind closed doors, removing fan presence as part of immediate corrective measures.
The NPFL has instructed Warri Wolves to identify, apprehend, and prosecute individuals responsible for the incidents, with evidence to be submitted to the league.
The club has also been given a 48-hour window from the date of notice to appeal the sanctions.
The decision underlines the NPFL’s continued emphasis on enforcing discipline, safety, and proper matchday organization across the league.
