Getafe president Angel Torres has admitted the Spanish club could sanction the sale of Christantus Uche this summer if an acceptable offer arrives, placing fresh uncertainty over the future of the Super Eagles midfielder.

Uche is expected to return to Getafe following the conclusion of his loan spell away from the club, but Torres’ latest comments suggest the Nigerian’s long-term future may still lie elsewhere despite the coach’s desire to keep him.

The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Getafe’s most valuable assets in recent seasons, attracting interest from clubs across Europe after establishing himself as a key figure for both club and country.

Speaking about the midfielder’s situation, Torres revealed that Getafe remain open to a transfer should the right proposal be presented.

“Uche has a contract with Palace until the 30th, so we can’t do anything. He doesn’t mind coming back, and the coach wants him. If there’s an offer and we agree on it, we’ll sell him,” Torres said.

The remarks are more of a financial reality facing Getafe, who have regularly relied on player sales to balance their books and comply with La Liga’s economic regulations.

Interest in Uche has continued to grow in recent months, with Premier League side Everton and La Liga rivals Real Betis both linked with the versatile midfielder. While neither club has submitted a formal bid, Torres’ comments could encourage potential suitors to test Getafe’s resolve during the transfer window.

Any departure would represent a significant blow for manager Jose Bordalas, who is already facing the prospect of losing influential midfielders Mauro Arambarri and Luis Milla this summer.

Keeping Uche would provide much-needed stability in the centre of the park, particularly given his ability to operate in multiple positions and his growing importance within the squad.

His rise has been one of the more remarkable success stories at Getafe. The Spanish club invested just €500,000 to secure his services two years ago, and his market value has since risen sharply. According to Transfermarkt, the Nigerian is now valued at around €12 million.
