Niger Tornadoes have appointed one of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s most experienced coaches, Kabiru Suleiman Dogo, as their new Technical Adviser on a three-year contract, with the club setting continental qualification as its primary objective for the 2026/27 season.
The Minna-based club officially unveiled Dogo during a ceremony at the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Ikon Allah Boys as they seek to re-establish themselves among Nigeria’s elite.
Dogo arrives with an impressive coaching résumé, having previously managed Lobi Stars, Kwara United, Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars. He is currently preparing El-Kanemi Warriors for Saturday’s President Federation Cup final against Ikorodu City before taking charge of Niger Tornadoes ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Sports Development, Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski, described the appointment as a key step in advancing Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s “New Niger” vision for sports development.
Ngaski said the state government remains committed to restoring Niger Tornadoes to greater heights and urged the new Technical Adviser to begin work immediately.
He also challenged the club’s management and technical crew to work together towards achieving their shared ambition of securing a continental ticket, while assuring them of continued government support throughout the project.
Club chairman Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso reinforced the club’s ambitions, declaring that qualifying for continental competition remains the management’s overriding target for the forthcoming NPFL season.
Kuso pledged the board’s full support for Dogo and his technical team as they prepare for the new campaign.

He also confirmed that Niger Tornadoes will return to the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna for their home matches, revealing that renovation work on the facility will resume immediately and is expected to be completed before the 2026/27 NPFL season begins in August.
Reacting to his appointment, Dogo expressed gratitude to the club’s management and the Niger State Government for entrusting him with the role.
The experienced tactician promised to assemble a competitive squad capable of matching the club’s lofty ambitions and assured supporters they would witness a rejuvenated Niger Tornadoes under his leadership.
