UEFA has confirmed the Allianz Arena in Munich and Camp Nou in Barcelona as the hosts of the 2028 and 2029 Champions League finals respectively, bringing two of European football’s most iconic stadiums back onto the final stage calendar.
The Allianz Arena will host the competition’s showpiece in 2028 for the third time, having previously staged the final in 2012 and 2025.
The 2012 final ended in one of the competition’s most memorable home ground disappointments, with Chelsea defeating Bayern Munich on penalties in Munich. Thirteen years later, Paris Saint-Germain claimed their maiden Champions League title at the same venue in 2025.
With a capacity of around 70,000, the Munich stadium is already fully equipped to stage the event, while Bayern Munich welcomed UEFA’s decision to return the final to the city.
“This is fantastic news for us: The Allianz Arena, FC Bayern, and Munich stand for international appeal, genuine hospitality, and the highest organisational quality,” Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said.
“We want to offer fans another exceptional experience and showcase Munich as a cosmopolitan, sports-loving, and exceptionally well prepared host city.”

Barcelona will then take centre stage in 2029, with Camp Nou set to host the Champions League final for the third time.
The stadium last staged the final in 1999, when Manchester United produced one of the competition’s most dramatic comebacks, scoring twice in stoppage time to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1 and complete a historic treble.
The 2029 final will also come against the backdrop of Camp Nou’s ongoing redevelopment, with work on the stadium forming part of Barcelona’s major renovation project launched in 2023.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta described UEFA’s decision as a major endorsement of the redevelopment project.
“It’s an immense pride for FC Barcelona and for all Barcelona fans,” Laporta said.
“UEFA’s confidence in hosting one of the biggest events in world football highlights the scale and ambition of this project and establishes Spotify Camp Nou as a new icon of Barcelona and an international reference.”
The selection also gives both cities another opportunity to stage European club football’s biggest fixture, with Munich and Barcelona joining Madrid on the upcoming Champions League final calendar.

The Estadio Metropolitano, home of Atletico Madrid, is already scheduled to host the 2027 final on June 5, meaning the next three editions will be staged in major Spanish and German football cities.
