Inter Lagos have been docked three points and three goals by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after their match officials were assaulted following their Matchday 7 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The Lagos club were charged with multiple breaches of the NPFL 2026/27 Framework and Rules, including inadequate security, allowing unauthorised persons into restricted areas and failing to ensure the proper conduct of club officials and supporters.
According to the disciplinary decision, the match officials were attacked while making their way from the dressing room to their vehicle after the game and were subsequently held hostage for more than an hour.
Inter Lagos officials, alongside some supporters, were also accused of intimidating, harassing and verbally abusing the officials in conduct deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
The incident escalated when the club’s team manager, alongside some supporters, assaulted the match officials. The first assistant referee suffered a facial injury and also lost personal belongings, including a mobile phone that was damaged during the incident.
