Another managerial departure has shaken English football, with a club forced to reconsider its direction after a difficult start to the season.
The decision followed growing pressure over results and mounting concerns about whether the team’s campaign was still heading towards its expected objectives.
In a statement on Tuesday, November 3, the club announced that a change was necessary after reviewing its progress since the start of the season.
The manager at the centre of the decision is Nuno Espírito Santo, who has left West Ham United with immediate effect, alongside assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa.
The announcement comes just days after the Hammers suffered a 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion, leaving them eighth in the Championship table and six points behind leaders Middlesbrough.
The setback intensified the pressure on Nuno, with sections of the London Stadium crowd calling for his dismissal during the match. Supporters were heard chanting “sacked in the morning” as West Ham struggled to recover.
But the problems behind the decision appear to extend beyond that defeat. West Ham have fallen behind in 10 of their 16 matches across all competitions this season.
They have also conceded 18 goals in 13 league games, a defensive record that has undermined their hopes of making an immediate return to the Premier League.

Their attacking numbers, however, tell a different story. With 33 goals, West Ham have scored more than any other Championship side, while their away record remains unbeaten in the league, with three wins and three draws from six matches.
That contrast has made their position particularly frustrating: the goals have been coming, but the consistency required to sustain a promotion challenge has proved elusive.
Nuno will leave alongside assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa, both of whom have also departed the club.
West Ham thanked the three members of staff for their work and commitment, wishing them well for the future.
The club confirmed that the process of recruiting a new head coach is already underway, although it has not announced a preferred candidate or a timeline for the appointment.
In the meantime, Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of squad preparations ahead of Wednesday evening’s Championship fixture away to Cardiff City.
West Ham also said they would make no further comment until a new head coach has been appointed.
