The Confederation of African Football has confirmed the venue, prize money and format for the 2025/26 CAF Champions League final, with Morocco’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium set to host the decisive second leg.

The winners of Africa’s premier club competition will earn $6 million, a significant increase from last season’s $4 million, while the final will be played over two legs.

CAF announced that the newly redeveloped Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat will stage the second leg on 24 May 2026, marking a major continental showpiece for the venue in its first season after renovation.

The first leg will be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, on 15 May 2026.

The Rabat stadium, which previously hosted the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, continues to underline Morocco’s growing reputation as a hub for major African football events.

Sundowns booked their place with a 2-0 aggregate victory over Esperance de Tunis, thanks to Colombian striker Brayan León, who scored in both legs, including a decisive goal in Pretoria.

It will be Sundowns’ fourth CAF Champions League final, as they chase a second title after their 2016 triumph. They were runners-up in 2001 and again last season.

Head coach Miguel Cardoso is also heading into his third consecutive final in the competition.

Their opponents, AS FAR, progressed despite a 1-0 second-leg defeat to RS Berkane, advancing 2-1 on aggregate.

The Moroccan side are back in the final for the first time in 41 years, having last won the title in 1985 and notably, they have never lost a final.

The CAF Champions League final will follow a two-legged format, with each team hosting one match.

The winners will secure qualification for:

  • 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup
  • 2029 FIFA Club World Cup
  • 2026 CAF Super Cup

With Pyramids FC already qualified as a previous winner, the remaining CAF Champions League winners will complete Africa’s representatives at the expanded Club World Cup.
