Turkish champions Galatasaray have reached an agreement with Burnley to sign Nigerian-born midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu in a deal worth just under €30 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano announced the breakthrough on Sunday, revealing that the 22-year-old is now expected to complete the formalities of his move before signing his contract with the Istanbul giants.
“Here we go, confirmed: Lesley Ugochukwu will sign his contract at Galatasaray shortly. Deal worth under €30m package from Burnley for the midfielder,” Romano posted on X.
The transfer represents another major statement of intent from the Turkish champions, who are strengthening their squad following another successful domestic campaign.
Ugochukwu enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League. The powerful midfielder featured in 35 league matches, scoring three goals and providing two assists, earning praise for his consistency in the middle of the park.

The move will also reunite him with one of Nigerian football’s biggest stars.
Once the deal is completed, Ugochukwu is expected to share the dressing room with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who has become a central figure at Galatasaray.
Born in France to Nigerian parents, Ugochukwu remains eligible to represent Nigeria internationally despite featuring for France at various youth levels. His future at senior international level has continued to generate interest among Nigerian football supporters.
The midfielder began his professional career at Rennes before joining Chelsea in 2023. After loan spells to aid his development, he secured a permanent move to Burnley, where his performances quickly established him as one of the club’s standout players despite their difficult campaign.
