The Enugu State Government has fulfilled Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s promise to reward Rangers International’s title-winning squad, formally presenting Certificates of Allocation for plots of land to players and club officials following their 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League triumph.

The certificates were presented on Thursday by the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Barrister Chimaobi Patrick Okorie, on behalf of the governor, barely a week after the pledge was announced during the club’s championship dinner in Enugu.

The plots, located at the Coal City Eastern Alliance Extension, form part of the reward package unveiled by Governor Mbah after Rangers secured a record-equalling ninth NPFL title.

The governor had earlier announced a ₦150 million reward package for the club, comprising ₦100 million for players, ₦50 million for management, and plots of land for players and officials. Thursday’s presentation marked the fulfilment of the land allocation component of that promise.

Speaking during the ceremony, Barrister Okorie described the occasion as another demonstration of Governor Mbah’s commitment to rewarding excellence and keeping faith with the people of Enugu State.

He praised the governor for swiftly redeeming the pledge, adding that the gesture would inspire young people across the state while reinforcing government support for sports development.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremadu, also commended the governor’s continued backing of Rangers, describing the fulfilment of the promise as a reflection of a leadership style built on delivery and accountability.

According to him, the governor’s support has played a significant role in strengthening Rangers and restoring confidence around one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs.

A total of 44 Certificates of Allocation were presented to players and officials, bringing to fruition one of the landmark incentives attached to Rangers’ title-winning campaign.

Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah on behalf of the beneficiaries, describing the gesture as further evidence of the administration’s commitment to the club and sports development in the state.

Ezeaku pledged that Rangers would continue to make Enugu proud through improved performances as they prepare for next season’s CAF Champions League campaign.
