Azeez joined Millwall from Reading in August 2024 and has since made 70 appearances in the second tier, scoring 13 goals.

His biggest impact came during the 2025/26 campaign, when he registered 11 goals and eight assists in 35 appearances for the Lions.

That form earned the 25-year-old recognition from his fellow professionals, with Azeez named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season.

The Nigerian was selected alongside Coventry City goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni and Haji Wright, while Millwall teammate Tristan Crama, Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Swansea City’s Zan Vipotnik also made the XI.

Azeez’s performances at club level also earned him his first senior Nigeria call-up under head coach Eric Chelle.

He quickly made an impression, scoring twice against Zimbabwe and providing an assist against Jamaica as Nigeria went on to win the Unity Cup in May.

Those performances further strengthened his reputation as one of the Championship’s most productive attacking players and have now reportedly attracted attention from Brighton.

A move to the Amex Stadium would see Azeez join compatriot Zadok Yohanna at Brighton.

The teenage winger made his Premier League debut in Brighton’s 4-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, replacing Mats Wieffer with 12 minutes remaining.

At 19, Yohanna became the fourth youngest Nigerian to play in the Premier League, behind Victor Anichebe, Kelechi Iheanacho and Shola Ameobi.

His arrival from Swedish club AIK this summer further illustrates Brighton’s aggressive investment in young talent.

The deal was worth an initial £24.2 million, with the fee potentially rising to £26m with add-ons.
