‘We must not lose concentration’: Ilechukwu warns as Rangers edge closer to NPFL title

Rangers International Technical Adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu has urged caution despite his side taking a crucial step in the Nigeria Premier Football League title race with a 2-0 win over Bayelsa United.

Speaking after the match, Ilechukwu said: “It was a good game for us. I’m happy but we must not lose concentration. It was a great game.”

He admitted his side struggled after the break: “I’m not too happy with the second half because we didn’t play well but our defenders did well and our goalkeeper played their roles well.”

Chidiebere Nwobodo opened the scoring in the 31st minute, before Godwin Obaje sealed the win in the 85th minute with his 12th goal of the season.

The victory keeps Rangers one point ahead of Rivers United FC at the top of the NPFL table with two matches remaining.

Rangers are now on the verge of a record-equalling ninth NPFL title, with upcoming fixtures against Bendel Insurance l and Wikki Tourists set to decide the title race.
