Former Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie has expressed strong belief in the future of Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who has been turning heads across Europe.
Odemwingie, who enjoyed a successful career in the Premier League, has been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old since his arrival at Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface, despite a season disrupted by injuries, has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents. With several top clubs reportedly interested in his services, Odemwingie is confident that Boniface is ready for the next step in his career.
Boniface’s Transfer Market Surge
Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023 for a reported €20 million. While his first season in Germany was highly successful, helping Leverkusen secure their first-ever Bundesliga title, this season has been more challenging due to injuries.
The Nigerian striker has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists in 18 appearances, a dip from his previous form. However, despite the injury struggles, Boniface’s market value has skyrocketed to €45 million, reflecting his growing reputation and potential.
His performances last season demonstrated his abilities as a complete forward, with Boniface playing a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s attacking play.

His blend of physicality, technical skill, and versatility on the ball has made him an attractive prospect for some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs. With his current market value surging, Boniface is firmly on the radar of top teams across Europe and the Middle East.
Odemwingie’s Insight on Boniface’s Future
Peter Odemwingie, a former Premier League star who earned 37 goals and 13 assists during his time at West Bromwich Albion, has shared his thoughts on Boniface’s potential.
In an interview with Africafoot, Odemwingie expressed confidence that Boniface is primed for a major move.

“I honestly thought a move to Saudi Arabia last January would have been a step backward for him, but thankfully that didn’t happen,” Odemwingie said.
“Victor is a player with incredible potential, and at this stage of his career, a move to that league would have been a waste of his abilities.”

Odemwingie went on to praise Boniface for his all-around game, pointing out key strengths that make him an ideal fit for top European clubs. “He’s tall, technically gifted, and can score with both feet and his head.
His ability to press defenders, his work off the ball, and his physicality are all assets that make him a perfect fit for top clubs in England, Spain, or Italy.”
Boniface Set for a Big Move in the Transfer Window?
Odemwingie is confident that Boniface will have plenty of options come the summer transfer window. “He’s still young, and there’s plenty of room for improvement.
But I’m convinced that he’s ready for the next step. Big clubs in Europe will be knocking on his door,” Odemwingie said. “He has the qualities to succeed at the highest level.”
Boniface’s potential is evident, and despite his injury struggles this season, he has shown enough to suggest that he could thrive at one of Europe’s elite clubs.
