Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface in a potential summer transfer deal.

According to reports, Bayer Leverkusen, Boniface’s current club, is open to selling the 24-year-old Nigerian international.

Boniface has had an impressive debut season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 goals and providing nine assists in 34 games. His performances played a significant role in the team’s unbeaten campaign, which culminated in winning the German Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal.

Spurs are said to be aware of Boniface’s willingness to leave Leverkusen if Xabi Alonso departs the club. Tottenham’s interest in Boniface is not new, as they had him on their radar about a year ago before signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Despite having a plethora of attacking options, including Son Heung-Min, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Richarlison, Timo Werner, Dominic Solanke, Tottenham’s current league position (16th in the Premier League) might prompt them to strengthen their squad.

Their best chance of salvaging something from the season lies in the UEFA Europa League, where they face Boniface’s former side, Bodo/Glimt, in the semi-final.

However, it’s worth noting that Boniface has previously expressed his preference for playing in Spain over England. Moreover, a potential move to Tottenham would likely see him competing with Solanke for playing time, rather than becoming an outright starter.

The financial aspect might also play a significant role in Boniface’s decision. His move to the Saudi Pro League collapsed during the winter transfer window, but a lucrative offer from Tottenham could change his mind.

West Ham United are also reportedly monitoring Boniface’s situation, adding to the competition for his signature. It remains to be seen whether Boniface will join Tottenham or another club in the summer transfer window.
