Team Sokoto caused one of the biggest upsets in the women’s handball competition at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Ogun State, edging Team Edo 22–20 on Day 3 at the Alake Sports Centre.
The Caliphate squad took an early lead, finishing the first half ahead 12–8, and held off a strong late push from Edo to claim their first major victory in the tournament.
Elsewhere, Lagos dominated Bauchi with a convincing 33–13-win, cruising to a 19–5 halftime advantage and maintaining their unbeaten streak with smart tactics and fast breaks.

In a thrilling encounter, Oyo narrowly defeated Delta 35–34 in the closing moments. Trailing 13–14 at halftime, Oyo’s grit saw them overturn the deficit to snatch a last-minute win.

Hosts Ogun also impressed, beating Plateau State 35–25. With strong home support, Ogun led 18–12 at halftime and controlled the game to seal a comfortable victory.
