Nigeria’s build-up to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has hit another snag, as the Super Falcons international friendly against Cameroon has been postponed for a second time.
The fixture, initially scheduled for the weekend, was first delayed due to the late arrival of the Cameroonian team.
A revised kick-off was set for Monday, but that plan has now also been abandoned.
According to an official statement from the Super Falcons’ media team, the match will now take place on Tuesday, 3 June, at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
The change follows a late request by the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), which was granted approval by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“New date, same determination,” read a post on the team’s social media channels, signalling the squad’s readiness to proceed in spite of the disruption.

The fixture is viewed as a crucial component of both nations’ final preparations for the 2024 WAFCON, which will now be held from 5 to 26 July 2025 in Morocco, following a postponement of the original schedule.
The friendly will also mark Nigeria’s return to international competition after a narrow 2-1 defeat to France in their last outing in November 2024.
