Nigeria has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2027 African School Games the second edition of the continental competition.
The announcement was made in Algiers on Tuesday, following a competitive bidding process that saw Nigeria triumph over South Africa and Kenya.
Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, described the win as a “huge moment” for Nigeria’s sporting future and a reflection of the government’s commitment to youth and sports development.

Nigeria’s successful bid was backed by its track record of hosting major sporting events, including the National Sports Festival and the African U18/U20 Athletics Championships.

The 2027 Games will bring together top school athletes from across Africa, as Nigeria positions itself once again as a hub for youth sports on the continent.
