Goalkeeper Adeyinka calls for transparency in NPFL Betting investigation

Goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka urges the NPFL Board to address claims of betting-related investigations, insisting on evidence-based resolutions.

Nigerian goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka has called on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board to invite him, Plateau United, and Shooting Stars for a transparent resolution to an ongoing betting dispute.

In a detailed statement, the former Plateau United player said he had been offered a contract by Shooting Stars after passing both physical and hospital medicals.

“They gave me special treatment and showed me the kind of respect a professional player deserves. I truly appreciate the new Sporting Director kudos to him,” Adeyinka said.

The goalkeeper explained he raised concerns over a clause in the contract that allowed for termination if a player was found to be involved in betting.

“I told the Sporting Director that if the club would base its judgment solely on solid evidence, I’d be happy to sign the contract,” he said, adding that a similar issue with Plateau United had ended his contract there.

A revised deal was presented to him, but before signing, Adeyinka travelled to Abuja for an embassy interview.

“On Wednesday, while preparing to return, I saw some troubling news on my phone. I quietly turned back home,” he said.

Adewinka said he contacted Plateau United’s secretary to confirm whether the club had written to the NPFL ITC department to block his registration, but was told no such letter had been sent.

“Please invite me, invite Plateau United, invite Shooting Stars. Let’s resolve this matter transparently,” he urged the NPFL Board.
