Kano Pillars have suspended Technical Adviser Ogenyi Evans and Chief Coach Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro with immediate effect after the club’s disappointing 2-1 loss to newly promoted Barau FC in the Kano derby on Sunday.
Goals from Yahaya Ibrahim and Stanley Oganbor earned Barau FC a famous victory at the Sani Abacha Stadium, cancelling out Rabiu Ali’s early opener for the visitors.
The club described the team’s performance as unsatisfactory, with the Sai Masu Gida managing only two wins, two draws, and four losses in their opening eight matches of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.

In a statement released shortly after the game, the club confirmed that assistant coach and former captain, Gambo Muhammad, will take temporary charge of the first team alongside goalkeeping coach Suleiman Shuaibu, while Garzali Muhammad (Kusa) from the Junior Pillars will join the interim setup.
“The Management of Kano Pillars FC wishes to inform our esteemed supporters and the general public that the Club’s Technical Adviser, Ogenyi Evans, and Chief Coach, Ahmed Garba Yaro Yaro, have been suspended with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Evans’ return to Kano has yet to deliver the desired results, with his side managing just two wins, two draws, and four defeats eight points from a possible 24 in their opening eight matches.
