Victor Osimhen says his record-breaking UEFA Champions League night for Galatasaray was down to teamwork, not individual brilliance.
The Nigerian striker scored twice as the Turkish champions defeated Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 3–1 in the UEFA Champions League group stage in Istanbul.
Osimhen’s opener came just two minutes and 53 seconds into the match, the fastest ever goal by a Galatasaray player in Champions League history. He later added a second before Yunus Akgün sealed the win at Rams Park.
Speaking after the match, Osimhen praised his teammates and coaching staff for their support.
“I’m very happy with my teammates’ performance, and I want to congratulate them first and foremost,” he told Galatasaray’s official website.

“The opponent was really good in the second half and pushed us hard. Ultimately, we got a very important win. I’d like to thank the staff, my coach, and my teammates.”

The brace also made it seven consecutive European matches in which Osimhen has scored for Galatasaray, a new club record stretching back to last season’s Europa League run.

Despite setting two new milestones, the 26-year-old striker insisted that team spirit came first.
“I don’t score these goals alone; I don’t break these records alone,” Osimhen said. “A huge thank you to the team and our fans. We’ll continue to build on this momentum.”
He also dedicated his Man of the Match award to his teammates.
“I won it thanks to my teammates; I didn’t win it alone. We’ve been winning together for two matches now. I’d like my other teammates to win this award too.”
