Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has been named Crystal Palace’s Goal of the Month winner for December, despite struggling for regular playing time since joining the Premier League club.
The 22-year-old, who arrived on a season-long loan from Spanish side Getafe last summer, claimed the award for his long-range strike in Palace’s Europa Conference League defeat by KuPS shortly before Christmas.
Uche has found opportunities hard to come by in England. He has started just three matches across all competitions, with Palace head coach Oliver Glasner often leaving the Nigerian midfielder on the bench.
His goal against KuPS, however, stood out as one of the highlights of Palace’s European campaign. Picking up the ball outside the penalty area, Uche beat his marker before curling a right-footed effort into the bottom corner.
The strike has now earned him his first individual recognition since moving to London.

Uche had been expected to play a more prominent role at Selhurst Park following an impressive season in La Liga, but his situation has raised questions about his future.
