Remo Stars have been fined ₦7m and ordered to relocate their home fixtures following crowd disturbances during their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against Ikorodu City earlier this month.

The NPFL confirmed that the sanctions stem from multiple breaches of its Framework and Rules during the Matchday 20 fixture played on 14 January 2026 at the club’s home ground in Ikenne.

According to the league, Remo Stars failed to provide adequate and effective security, a lapse that led to violent clashes between supporters of both teams. Several Ikorodu City fans were injured in the incident, while vehicles linked to the visiting side were also damaged.

The NPFL further stated that match officials were subjected to harassment and intimidation, with home supporters throwing objects onto the pitch, forcing repeated stoppages during the game.

In a strongly worded statement, the league condemned what it described as “barbaric behaviour” by some supporters, citing the presence of dangerous objects and weapons inside the stadium, a conduct it said was capable of bringing the league into disrepute.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Remo Stars were fined ₦2m for failing to provide adequate security and ₦1m for the throwing of objects onto the field of play.

An additional ₦1m was imposed for improper conduct of supporters, while another ₦1m was levied for misconduct deemed damaging to the image of the league.

The club has also been ordered to pay ₦2m in compensation to cover damage to the Ikorodu City team bus and injuries sustained by their supporters.

Beyond the financial penalties, the NPFL ruled that Remo Stars will play the remainder of their 2025/26 home matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, effectively barring the club from using their Ikenne base for the rest of the season.
