Akor Adams continued his growing reputation as Sevilla’s survival hero after firing the decisive goal in a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory away to Villarreal on Wednesday night.
Just days after his dramatic stoppage-time winner against Espanyol, the Nigerian striker once again delivered under pressure, rifling home in the 72nd minute to complete another remarkable turnaround for Sevilla FC at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Sevilla looked to be heading towards another damaging defeat after Villarreal stormed into a two-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes.
The hosts struck first in the 13th minute when Gerard Moreno latched onto a clever through ball from Georges Mikautadze before calmly finishing beyond goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
Seven minutes later, Villarreal doubled their advantage. Alberto Moleiro reached the byline and clipped a dangerous ball across goal for Mikautadze to tap into an empty net and make it 2-0.
With Sevilla struggling to cope with Villarreal’s intensity, the game appeared to be slipping away until Oso sparked life into the visitors in the 36th minute. The midfielder drove forward on a brilliant solo run before firing low into the bottom corner to reduce the deficit.

The visitors pushed forward relentlessly and found a deserved equaliser deep into first-half stoppage time when Kike Salas met Rubén Vargas’ pass with a superb first-time finish into the roof of the net.
Sevilla carried that momentum into the second half and gradually began to take control of the contest.
Akor Adams remained heavily involved throughout, stretching the Villarreal defence with his movement and physical presence. Although he was briefly flagged offside just before the hour mark, the Nigerian striker continued to threaten whenever Sevilla broke forward.
Seconds after Alexis Sanchez entered the pitch, Sevilla won possession high up the field before Djibril Sow worked the ball into Adams’ path inside the area. The Nigerian reacted instantly, smashing a fierce effort into the top-left corner beyond helpless goalkeeper Arnau Tenas to complete Sevilla’s stunning comeback.
The goal silenced the home crowd and capped another clutch performance from Adams, whose recent goals are rapidly becoming central to Sevilla’s fight for survival.
Villarreal attempted to force a late response, with Pau Navarro seeing a dangerous effort blocked and Sevilla defender Jose Angel Carmona later booked during tense closing moments, but the visitors held firm to secure a massive three points.
