Victor Osimhen may have played an unexpected role in shaping Galatasaray’s transfer plans for next season, with reports from Turkey claiming the Super Eagles star has recommended fellow Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare to the Turkish champions.
Galatasaray are expected to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, particularly with Argentine forward Mauro Icardi reportedly nearing an exit from the club. The anticipated departure would leave a significant gap in the squad and force the Turkish giants into the market for additional firepower.
According to Turkish journalist Burak Eren, Osimhen has personally suggested Arokodare as a suitable option for the Istanbul club.
The two forwards share a strong relationship through the Nigerian national team, where Arokodare has previously spoken openly about the influence Osimhen has had on his career. The former Napoli striker’s recommendation could carry weight given his standing within both Galatasaray and the Super Eagles setup.

Arokodare’s name has featured prominently in transfer discussions throughout the summer despite a challenging first campaign in England.
The 24-year-old joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Belgian side Genk in a deal worth around €26 million last year but struggled to make a major impact during his debut season. He finished the campaign with six goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League has altered the club’s financial landscape, with reports suggesting several players could be moved on as part of efforts to reduce costs and reshape the squad.
That situation has created an opportunity for interested clubs, and Arokodare remains a player with significant appeal despite his recent struggles.

Before moving to England, the powerful forward built a reputation as one of the most productive Nigerian strikers in European football. Across his professional career, he has scored 90 goals in 259 appearances, a record that continues to attract attention from clubs searching for a physically dominant centre-forward.
Interest from Turkey is not entirely new. Arokodare has previously been linked with Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Trabzonspor, but Galatasaray now appear to have emerged as a more realistic destination.
The prospect of working alongside Osimhen and remaining in a competitive environment could prove attractive for a player seeking to revive his momentum after a difficult season.

While Wolves have yet to publicly set an asking price, reports indicate they would be willing to listen to offers. A loan agreement is also believed to be under consideration, potentially giving Galatasaray the chance to assess Arokodare before committing to a permanent transfer.
