Nigeria Premier Football League clubs have now been given a clear roadmap for strengthening their squads after the league confirmed the dates for the 2027 mid-season transfer window in its newly released 2026/27 season calendar.
According to the calendar, the registration window will run from 1 January to 30 January 2027, allowing clubs to recruit reinforcements and reshape their squads during the second half of the campaign.
The transfer period coincides with the league’s festive break, which is scheduled to run from 23 December 2026 to 6 January 2027, giving teams an opportunity to assess performances before the competition resumes.

The first half of the season will conclude with Matchday 19, scheduled for 18–20 December 2026, before players head into the Christmas recess.
League action will restart with Matchday 20 between 8 and 10 January 2027, meaning clubs will still have most of the transfer window available after competitive football resumes.
The January window is traditionally one of the most important periods of the NPFL season, offering teams battling for the title, continental qualification or survival the chance to strengthen weak areas while also replacing injured or departing players.
The release of the calendar gives clubs, technical crews and recruitment departments ample time to prepare their transfer strategies ahead of what promises to be another demanding campaign.
