Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has cautioned that Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph should not create the illusion that his team has reached perfection, insisting there is still significant work to be done.
The coach admitted in an interview with CAF, that the continental champions remain a work in progress despite reclaiming Africa’s biggest women’s football title.
According to Madugu, the technical crew has already identified several areas that require improvement after carefully reviewing both the team’s preparations and performances during the tournament.
“We are not a perfect team yet,” he said.
“We have made a lot of observations in the course of the pre-WAFCON matches we played and even during the WAFCON itself.”
Rather than dwelling on the success of lifting the trophy, Madugu revealed that the coaching staff immediately turned their attention to analyzing performances in search of ways to make the team stronger.

He cautioned that continuous development is essential if Nigeria hope to remain the continent’s dominant force and compete successfully on the global stage.
“We have analyzed many areas that we know we need to work on,” he added.
However, the 62-year-old declined to disclose the specific aspects of the team’s game that require attention, describing them as internal technical matters.
“But these are technical areas that we will keep to ourselves while we continue working on them,” Madugu explained.
His comments underline a coaching philosophy centered on constant improvement rather than complacency.
Despite guiding Nigeria back to the summit of African women’s football, Madugu believes sustained success depends on recognizing weaknesses and addressing them before future competitions.
“The important thing is that we recognize there is always room for improvement and we will continue striving to make the team better,” he said.
